Rejuvenation and Regeneration

Through the mists of time to the present day, Acupuncture has outlasted the passage of time. No western based medical treatment can boast such a feat of longevity, giving credence to its successful efficiency.

HISTORICAL ORIGINS of CHINESE ACUPUNCTURE

As far back as the New Stone Age (10,000-4,000 years ago) numerous legends were cited regarding the use of stone needles called bian stone in Acupuncture treatment. Two individuals – Fu Xi and Huang Di, both representatives of the ‘clan commune’ of primitive society, are credited with the creation of Acupuncture as a therapeutic technique.

Bian needles have been found at New Stone Age sites in the Shandong Province and at Duolun, Inner Mongolia. According to the records of Chapter 12 of Plain Questions: The treatment with bian Acupuncture needles originated in the East coast region of China.

Hieroglyphs of Acupuncture appeared in inscriptions on bones and tortoise shells, 3,000 years ago during the Shang Dynasty.

Following the introduction of iron instruments, bian stone needles were replaced by various metals including bronze, gold and silver.
